MTR Elizabeth Line (MTREL)  is looking for an experienced Quality, Energy and Environment professional to take the Quality & Environment Lead role. The Quality & Environment Lead is responsible for providing technical expertise and environmental leadership and assisting MTREL functions in planning and delivering the concession contract requirements. This will ensure that, in collaboration with key business stakeholders, MTREL is industry leading and builds a strong platform for the future.

The post holder will play a critical role in our journey towards becoming an industry leading by having the opportunity to drive, manage and improve our quality, energy and environmental management systems and overall business performance. Will also embed quality management and continuous improvement principles within MTREL in order to ensure the service we provide is fit for purpose, consistent and meets both external and internal requirements.

The post holder will also lead on the wide variety of environmental and energy challenges and opportunities across MTREL in regards to our environmental management systems, operating procedures, audit programmes and competency and training frameworks. They will fully ensure that all key themes including carbon reduction, energy efficiency, noise, water and waste management are effectively managed through stakeholder engagement and appropriate governance structures.


A successful candidate for this role will have:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in quality, environment and energy manager roles with sound understanding of environmental legislation and principles of the management systems
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IEMA) with chartered status (or working towards/ equivalent) desired not essential
  • Good analysis of issues and concerns and systematic formulation of organisational systems and procedures
  • Proven experience in an environmental leadership role, managing compliance with UK environmental legislative requirements including ESOS and SECR and driving cultural change
  • Proven ability to successfully influence, engage and build advocacy at all levels of the business and across functional areas
  • Experience working in a dynamic and fast changing environment
  • A highly organised approach to managing themselves and their work
  • Excellent verbal, numeracy, and literacy skills; analytical skills and data interpretation
  • Self-motivation, a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in preparation for external audits as part of the certification process
  • Experience working with minimal supervision and be able to identify critical instructions
  • Resilience and the ability to challenge effectively in a matrix organisation
