MTR Elizabeth line (MTREL) have an exciting opportunity for a Learning & Development Apprentice working in the Engagement and Development team within the People Function. You will take on a range of tasks and activities to support the development of individuals across MTREL in line with our company culture and values. You will be set objectives to engage with different teams to support their development and therefore will work across all MTREL business functions. You will develop your own skills to enable you to deliver a number of core training courses on a regular basis as well as delivering some short and long-term projects.
The successful candidate will be supported on an 18-month apprenticeship programme, studying for the Learning and Development Practitioner (Level 3) Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will develop your understanding of the foundation level theories that underpin effective learning and group behaviour whilst exploring the impact different learning delivery channels have when contributing to effective learning. This understanding will allow you to identify and analyse learning needs, design, construct and structure training resources to meet a variety of needs.
During the apprenticeship, most of your learning is through on-the-job training and you’ll work towards the Development Practitioner (Level 3) qualification at the same time. You’ll be supported with regular 1:1 contact and progress reviews from a dedicated, experienced coach to keep you on track, review your portfolio and check your knowledge, skills and behaviours so you are fully prepared for your End Point Assessment.
You’ll also get dedicated study time as off-the-job learning, this includes face-to-face workshops, coaching and mentoring, self-directed study/research and project work. You will have access to an integrated learning system with everything in one place including all online learning, a library with access to books, journals, case studies, study support and specialist insights and the ability to track progress and off-the-job learning hours, view your progress reviews and upload portfolio evidence.
The successful candidate will have well-developed communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels internally and externally. Experience of training, development or coaching will be an advantage but not essential. You’ll have passion and drive to develop others through designing and delivering effective learning and development solutions. You will have the ability to work unsupervised to achieve tasks, taking a proactive approach to problem solving and experience investigating problems and analysing performance data in order to make reasoned improvement recommendations. Applicants must have a minimum of three GCSEs grade A–C (9–4 on the new grading system) or equivalent including English and Maths.
As part of the application process, you will be asked to write a personal statement which should be a maximum of 400 words. In this we would like you to highlight any relevant experience, reasons for wanting to become an apprentice at MTR Elizabeth line and what you would hope to gain from the apprenticeship as well as why you think you would make a good apprentice for the team.
Please note prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject.
